We had our first day of training with a new group on Sunday. My friends (Alyson and Rachel) and I decided to stay at the church for Sunday School and to worship with them. We had a "coffee and cookie" break at one point, and I tried to "mingle" with the people. (Many of you know...I'm not the greatest "mingler.") Well, at one point, some of the little girls were coming up to me, wanting to talk. One of the little girls who comes from an area outside of this colonia looked at me and she asked me, "What happened to your face?" Of course, my vanity instantly kicked in, and I replied, "I don't know! Is there something on it?" She said quickly, "No...what happened to make it so white???" One of the other little girls smiled and said, "That's the way her face is. She's a white lady!" Well, I smiled at that...but then I immediately asked my friends if there was indeed anything wrong with my face. It turned out that the second little girl was right--I'm just a white lady. :)
