A Month Later

Yes, it appears that I have returned to the "once a month" trend when it comes to blogs! But here I am, returning from the world of non-blogging. My trip to the United States--although relatively unannounced and rather covert--was terrific. I did miss my husband, but God richly blessed the week I spent in Dinwiddie. You see, around April 25 my mother had a very slight heart attack. Although my father told me I wouldn't need to make a trip to Virginia, my husband encouraged me to go. His own mother spent 6 very difficult months battling cancer before she passed away, and he feels deeply that caring for one's mother is an important and blessed task. Although my mother's situation was not nearly as serious, he urged me to make the trip, also noting that I hadn't seen my family for almost a year. So, thanks to modern technology I made a quick airline reservation and arrived in Dinwiddie on April 27.

What a great week! I had time to relax with my mom and dad, helping Mom with dishes, daily chores, and meals. My Aunt Thelma happened to be visiting from Washington (state). Time with siblings--beyond compare! I even found a wonderful pre-paid international calling card at Wal-Mart that allowed me to call Angel at a great rate per minute. I didn't make any side trips, and forgive me for not calling anyone other than family, but just being at the 'ole "7 N Ranch" warmed my heart. (My dad always said he was going to put up a sign--7 N Ranch--since we were 7 Nelsons!) The time there also made me stop to thank God for the wonderful family He blessed me with here on this earth. Ones parents begin to age, but still the idea that they will always be at the "homestead" stands firm. Thank God that I can say without doubt that although my mom and dad will one day leave the "7 N Ranch," they will wait for us at the true homestead--the one God has planned for all those who trust in Him!

Anyway--I'm thinking out loud, as the title of the blog proclaims!

If you have the chance, call your family and love on them some today!

Until--next month??? :)
