I'm back for the next decade! Ok, so technically I should begin with 1981, since I already posted from 1970-1980. But, I left out one extremely important detail...so I'm going with the whole decade!
1980: I understood what it meant to have a relationship with Christ and asked Him to enter my life.
1981: My brother began his freshman year at Virginia Tech, and I was hooked!
1982: I played the Scarecrow in the school play, The Wizard of Oz. I still wonder sometimes: "If I only had a brain..."
1983: I turned the ever important 13 years old. I continued to be a nerd, getting straight A's while also trying to turn "Valley Girl" with my best friend, Kerry.
1984: I started Junior High--back when we still had that. I decided that I would go to the Senior Prom (5 years away) with Brent Moody. To save a year, I'll add here that in 1989, I didn't go to the Senior Prom with anyone!
1985: Ronald Reagan is sworn in as U.S. President again, and begins to foster a relationship with Mikhail Gorbachev. My interest in world events increases and I become quite the little Republican!
1986: I start High School. At this point, I have pretty much decided I'll be an English major. I also start attending the FCA.
1987: The most important event from this year: my first nephew, Ryan, is born in January! (Presently, that means that I really am getting, um, older! He'll be 20 years old in 2007!)
1988: I turn 18 and for the first time I can vote! I get to vote in the presidential elections and George Herbert Walker Bush is elected.
1989: I finally enter Virginia Tech, as an English major, after years of visiting my brother and 3 sisters there. I meet Donna and we instantly become friends. I can't even begin to put here everything we experienced together!
1990: Weird, wacky, willingly worldly. That about sums up that year!
Next time--another decade! Just so you know, I was dubbed in 9th grade, "The most unique dresser at the school." Apparently, when everyone else was wearing Jordache and Izod, my "let-me-prove-to-you-that-I-want-to-be-an-English-major" style raised some eyebrows!

Some of my links don't work...but I just don't have the time to fix that right now! :) Soon...very soon!
So, you ah, tried to go valley girl, huh? How'd that work out for you?
And I would love to see a representative picture of your attire that garnered you such a prestigious nomination in high school. ;) Got any?
I was just the other day thinking about going over to yours and Donna's place on Airplane Rd. in B'burg to eat baked ziti. YUM!
I do have pictures, but they're in Virginia at my Mom and Dad's place. I'll have to scan 'em in one day so you can take a peek.
Admittedly, there's still a little of that spirit in me--just not as untamed as it was in 9th grade! :)
