From Lamentations 3:22-23 sprang the song "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." From that text this morning sprang my overwhelming desire to approach my King. We know our spiritual battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spirits and the princes of the air, yet often it is our own flesh that fails us. How humbling is it, though, that our great God's mercies are new every morning! He does not run out of forgiveness, of tenderness, of love. And, what does He require of us? A heart and a life given to Him, one that will love mercy, do justice, and walk humbly with Him. Wow! What an exchange! I give Him myself, and He gives me EVERYTHING!
Christmas season is here! Well, for me, it began on Thanksgiving Day. I broke out the Christmas CD's and my meager decorations and lit the cinnamon-apple candle. :) Of course the season has a different twist here, but I have begun to enjoy the lights and decorations. The American "who-has-the-most-lights" contest seems to have seeped in to Mexico! They're everywhere! Tonight I get to help a friend decorate his Christmas tree. How fun! (Mine is all of 12 inches tall!) Through it all, God keeps reminding me of His gift of mercy. I don't deserve to even receive it, but He merciful allows me to approach Him and live in the light of His love. What a gift!
